The Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary and Art Gallery located at J.N. Jumalon St. Basak, Pardo, Cebu City. This sanctuary and art gallery was owned by Prof. Julian N. Jumalon who was a painter/artist. This person was known for his "Lepido Mosaic" which was an art mosaic made from the butterfly wings. He was the first one to introduce this kind of art. Some of his amazing artworks were displayed in their art gallery portraying different stories in each of his works. Their mini exhibit hall where butterflies from different parts of the world including Philippines' local butterfly species were displayed there. Some species of moths and beetles were also displayed. Their sanctuary were planted with different food plants for the different species of butterfly available. The sanctuary was open and butterflies were free to go out from the sanctuary. They have a mini nursery where they collect the cocoons and caterpillars and let them grow and develop into a butterfly. They also have a big butterfly and flower model where you can took selfies and pictures with your friends and family. Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary and Art Gallery is a nice place to visit for those who loves nature, art and most especially butterflies. This is just a few minutes travel from the city. You can come here with your family, friends or special someone. This is open weekdays, Monday to Friday with an entrance fee of 50 pesos for student/child and 100 pesos for adult. 1. There are specific plants where butterflies lay and hatch their eggs and serve as the home and food for the caterpillars. They are called 'food plants' for the butterflies. e.g. pomelo plant or buongon
2. There is that so called 'Butterfly Alphabet' which are figures like letters and numbers found on the wings of the butterflies. It takes 15yrs for that person who made this to complete it.
3. Female butterflies are larger than male animals, but male butterflies are much colorful in structure.
4. There butterflies that mimic other animals or nature to protect themselves from predators. (e.g. owl butterfly and dry leaf butterfly)
5. One thing to determine a butterfly from a moth is through their antenna.

7. Even a simple plant or grass can be plant food or a plant home of butterflies so it is greatly essential not to cut off plants from our environment

10.The colors of the wings of the butterflies in the exhibit are not actually its real color. It is caused by the reflection of light in the room. Light is an enemy of color as what our guide said.
